Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court - Louis J. Perret

Louis J. Perret was elected Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court on November 20, 1999. He was elected in June 2000 by his fellow Clerks to serve as State Director for Louisiana to IACREOT (International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers). In March of 2001, Perret was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Clerks of Court Association. In March 2003, he was re-elected to the Board of Directors for another two-year term.

The Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court will not issue Birth and Death Certificates due to the Coronavirus situation until further notice. Please call 504-593-5100 for more information on applying for a Birth or Death Certificate.


The Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court will no longer be accepting passport applications due to the Coronavirus situation until further notice.


The April 4, 2020 Presidential Preference Election has been postponed to June 20, 2020 and the May 9, 2020 General Election has been postponed to July 25, 2020.


Effective Nov. 1, 2018, our office will no longer accept paper documents submitted on CD's, DVD's or thumb drives.


Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court is excited to announce that we are now accepting electronic filings. Please review the procedures attached here.


The Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court will provide limited internet access to the ClerkConnect and Efile-LA websites while inside the courthouse on floors 1-5. If you have an account with either of these websites you may access this through our public Wi-Fi named ClerkConnect.


All filings made with the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court may become public record subject to the Public Records Act.
